
Amgad Helmy
Head of Key Stage 3
Amgad Helmy is one of the founding leaders of GEMS Founders School – Al Barsha and is honoured to return to the GEMS family to contribute to the growth of the new GEMS Founders School in Dubai South. Since 2016, he has played an active role in shaping the school’s journey, serving first as Curriculum Enrichment Coordinator, then as Head of Student Welfare, and later as Assistant Headteacher for Key Stage 4. He has led student leadership initiatives, enrichment trips, enhancements to the house system, and the introduction of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
With over 21 years of experience in education, including 14 years with GEMS, Amgad brings a global perspective gained from teaching across three continents. He holds both a PGDE and a PGCE from the University of Sunderland and is deeply committed to enhancing students’ development through leadership, enrichment, and meaningful learning experiences.
In his current role as Assistant Headteacher for Key Stage 3, Amgad continues to place students at the heart of all he does. Guided by the school’s vision and mission, his focus remains on nurturing a kind, inclusive, and creative community where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
